Jacksonville Weekly Gas Price Update, March 14

Average retail gasoline prices in Jacksonville have risen 0.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.52/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 3.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.53/g, according to gasoline price website JacksonvilleGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Jacksonville during the past week, prices yesterday were 74.5 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 41.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 40.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 74.5 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

Jacksonville Weekly Gas Price Update, March 7

Average retail gasoline prices in Jacksonville have risen 14.0 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.50/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 12.6 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.47/g, according to gasoline price website JacksonvilleGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Jacksonville during the past week, prices yesterday were 76.7 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 43.9 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 36.0 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 73.6 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

Gas Prices Soar Near Jax Airport

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- At JetWay, they use a large, white van to get their customers to the airport.

"I love that thing so much, it's called the M&M, the money maker," said employee Gage Brickelmaier.

The 2004 Chevy shuttle may soon need a new moniker. When JetWay opened its doors in the good old days, a week ago, gas was a paultry $3.20 a gallon.

After being in business for just seven days, some stations near the airport are charging $3.62 for regular unleaded.

The money maker only gets five miles to the gallon.

"When we first started, we didn't even think that would be an issue- gas. We never thought of it," said Brickelmaier 

The recent spike in prices has JetWay completely readjusting its business plan.

"We only forecasted $1500 a month and we're going to be spending well over $3000," said JetWay's owner Shaun Nicholson.

Average retail gasoline prices in Jacksonville have risen 22.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.33/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 17.0 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.34/g, according to gasoline price website JacksonvilleGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Jacksonville during the past week, prices yesterday were 63.9 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 29.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 25.3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 64.9 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

JTA Wins Federal Clean Fuels Grant; Paves Way for First Hybrid Buses in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) today announced that it has received a $4 million federal grant to purchase
hybrid buses as a part of JTA’s ongoing fleet replacement program.

The grant is funded through the Clean Fuels Grant Program Funds, a program that supports the U. S. Department of Transportation’s environmental sustainability efforts. JTA was the only Florida agency that received funds.

Jacksonville Northside Residents Want New Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- For the families living along Nungezer Road, it's been a bumpy road - literally. 

"The road is in rough shape," said Darin Wingate.

Their street is less than a mile, but it is so bad the Wingates said even emergency vehicles are reluctant to drive Nungezer Road. Residents have fought the city for generations to have it fixed, but the bumps remain.

The Wingate family has lived off Nungezer for years and they're tired of it. "We've been fighting to get a road put in here since 1968-1969," said Wingate.

The Wingates have deeded property over to the city to help pave the way for a new road. "It has been surveyed a total of four times for proposed roads all of the land and property has been signed over," he added.
