?The 48th International Conference of the Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) will be held in Jacksonville, FL, February 23-26, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront hotel.  The LDA conference is the largest in the country focusing on all aspects of learning disabilities.
Because the current economy is affecting all schools, teachers, families and their students, LDA is offering the conference as a
tool and invaluable resource for professionals and parents to help improve school and student performance and learning.
Over 200 breakout sessions and topical workshops will be provided by the leading experts in special and general education,
mental health, education research, classroom techniques, assessment and evaluation of children, students and adults with
learning disabilities. Timely workshops focus on advances in reading research; professional preparation; accommodating
learning with technology; early childhood assessment; transition from school to work; exposure to toxic environmental
contaminants and links to children’s learning; and a Thursday evening session open to the public on postsecondary options for
students with learning disabilities.
Featured general session speakers are Donald D. Deshler, Ph.D., Director, Center for Research on Learning, University of
Kansas; Philip Landrigan, M.D., Chairman, Department of Preventive Medicine, Mount Sinai School of Medicine; and Bambi
J. Lockman, Chief, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services, Florida Department of Education. Nancie Payne,
