Lanes and ramps will be closed nightly at various locations within the project limits from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, November 1 through Friday, November 5.  Detour signs will be posted. All work on this project should be finished by late 2010.

Chocolate & Candy Shoppe Celebrates Halloween with Free Outdoor Movie

Sweet Pete’s, Jacksonville’s only all-natural sweet shoppe, founded by local confectioner Peter Behringer aka the “Peter” of Peterbrooke Chocolatier, will host a free outdoor viewing of a classic favorite movie, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory on Friday, October 22.

Jax India Fest on October 16, 2010 from 3PM to 11PM at the Metropolitan Park

Jax India Fest 2010 is being organized by the Hindu Society of North East Florida along with various Indian organizations of Jacksonville.  Jax India Fest 2010 is on October 16, 2010 from 3PM to 11PM at the Metropolitan Park.  Admission is free and it is open to all. 

Jax India Fest 2010 promises to be a fun filled event.  The event will have fifty-plus booths from a variety of regional Indian organizations and businesses that cater to the local population.  The booths will feature authentic Indian cuisine, traditional Indian dresses, traditional Indian jewelry, and Indian art.  In addition, traditional Indian folk and classical dances will be performed.  The event will culminate in Navratri celebrations, which will include Garba Ras and Dandia-very popular traditional dance in which everyone participates.

New Blood Perks Up Florida Panther Population

USA Today - By the early 1990s there were only 20 to 25 Florida panthers left out of what was once a large and thriving population – and those that remained were sickly and inbred, destined for extinction within 20 years, experts estimated. So in 1995 conservation managers moved eight wild-caught female pumas from Texas to the area – a reintroduction so successful that between 1995 and 2008 a total of 424 panther births have been documented.
