JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man who was found guilty of attempted second degree murder in June has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.
Raymond Matthew Austin, 19, lured Carl Davis into a parking lot and shot him in October 2010. His ex-girlfriend and co-defendant Shanda Merritt goes to trial on an attempted murder charge on August 20, according to a release from the State Attorney's Office.
Austin will go back on trial in another case in which he faces kidnapping, armed robbery and first degree murder charges in the October 2010 death of Charles Soukup, 83.
Two co-defendants, as well as Merritt and Austin, are charged with killing Soukup after kidnapping him in his rental vehicle at the Jacksonville International Airport. Soukup's rental vehicle was also used in the attempted murder of Davis, the release stated.
Soukup's body was found in the woods near JIA.
