JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police are looking into a shooting that sent one person to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Monday night.

According to JSO Homicide Detective Shawn Coarsey the victim was sitting in his car in a strip mall on Norwood Avenue talking to a woman when the shooter got into the car and opened fire.

The victim got shot several times and went to Shands in life-threatening condition where Coarsey said he remained.  He was in surgery at last check, Coarsey said.

Police don't yet have a description of the suspect but Coarsey said he drove away in a dark-colored vehicle.  Now officers are trying to find the woman who was talking to the victim just before the shooting in addition to tracking down the shooter.
