JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the victims of a fatal crash at U.S. 301 and S.R. 228 Tuesday night.

A 2002 Toyota Corolla carrying three people was eastbound on State Road 228 around 9:40 p.m. when it crossed paths with a semi, which was southbound on U.S. 301, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The front of the semi struck hit the Toyota on the right side. The driver of the Toyota, Elisha Drury, 31; and passengers Timothy F. Carter, 30, of Gainesville; and Jose Caicedo, 47, were killed, according to the FHP report.

The driver of the 1998 Trim semi, a 53-year-old from Hemingway, S.C., whom FHP Lt. Bill Leeper said recently had back or neck surgery, had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The Maxville-area wreck closed all of the southbound lanes of 301, an email from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

FHP got the call about the crash at about 10 p.m. and it took about a half hour to get to the scene, according to the FHP traffic crash website.
