Police: Crooks Break into Building, Drop in Through Ceiling

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville police said two men tried to hold up a check cashing store by climbing down through the ceiling.

According to the police report, the incident happened just before seven Monday morning at Jacks Check Cashing on W. Edgewood Avenue.

The clerk told police she arrived at work to open the business, and as she got to the front door she heard a sound coming from the ceiling.

According to the report, the woman looked up and saw a man jump down from the ceiling.  She said a few seconds later another man came down from the ceiling.

The victim told police the suspects were carrying a bag and had their hand in it.  She said they pointed the bag at her as it it was a gun.

The report notes the suspects demanded the woman open the door to the secure area of the business.

She told police she said "No," and then fell to the ground in shock.

According to the police report, the suspects tried to get her up to open the secure door with her key.  The suspects then took off.

Officers found a magazine with bullets near the business.
