Families of Slain Children Host 2nd Annual Bikers Against Crime Ride

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The second annual "Bikers Against Crime" ride took place Sunday afternoon.

Local bikers such as the Buffalo Soldiers came out to raise money for back-to-school supplies as well as lend support and raise awareness about families who've lost their children to violence.

The event was sponsored by the the Families of Slain Children Center. The ride started at First Timothy Church off Biscayne Boulevard and finished at North Myrtle Avenue.

"We have so many people who have lost people, even the bikers are falling. We want to honor them as we honor our children," says CEO Beverly McClain, who has lost a child herself.

"Today was great day for them to come out and it was just a thrill to see the bikers passing by as they rolled the neighborhoods. It's a great thing for them to come by and support the community."

Riders and organizers of the event honored the children who have lost their lives at a memorial wall which marked the end of the motorcycle route.

On August 13th, the Families of Slain Children Center will host another back-to-school drive.
