MORE: First Coast fires

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A new wildfire has broken out in northern Duval County, but there's not much fire crews can do about it.

According to the Florida Division of Forestry, the fire is on Burton Island, which abuts the Nassau River.

The island location makes it inaccessible to fire crews, so they can only monitor the fire.

However, there are no homes on the island, and since it is a true island, it is completely surrounded by water. The island is part of the Timucuan Ecological Preserve.
