Chocolate & Candy Shoppe Celebrates Halloween with Free Outdoor Movie

Sweet Pete’s, Jacksonville’s only all-natural sweet shoppe, founded by local confectioner Peter Behringer aka the “Peter” of Peterbrooke Chocolatier, will host a free outdoor viewing of a classic favorite movie, Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory on Friday, October 22.

The showing takes place at the “Sweet Pete’s” house which was built in 1911 in the historic Springfield neighborhood. The shoppe is a whimsical candy haven and a perfect setting to watch this sweet movie. Sweet Pete’s is closing off its courtyard and parking area and bringing in a huge 16 ft. movie screen to show the original version of the movie outside.  Guests only need to bring their sweet tooth and a blanket to sit on!

Peter, who grew up watching the classic candy movie, definitely favors the original film over the new Johnny Depp version.

“This one’s the real deal, and always takes me back to my childhood when I dreamed of a world filled with chocolate,” said Behringer.  “Opening this all-natural chocolate and sweet shoppe earlier this summer has helped me fulfill that dream, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share it with the families in this community.  Maybe it’ll inspire a future chocolatier!” he added.

The free movie showing offers a fun Halloween experience for those not able to trick or treat due to dietary concerns.   Peter will hand-make caramel and candy apples, popcorn balls and over thirty flavors of organic cotton candy for this special event.
