USS Underwood Returns from Six Month Deployment

More than 200 Sailors stationed on board USS Underwood (FFG 36) and embarked helicopter squadron HSL 60 will return to Naval Station Mayport on Tuesday, October 5, after a six-month deployment to the Eastern Pacific in support of Counter-Illicit Trafficking Operations.

SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular

Halloween meets the sea during SeaWorld's Halloween Spooktacular, featuring an underwater "fantasea" where children can trick-or-treat, meet amazing sea creatures, catch silly and spooky shows and help Sesame Street's Abby Cadabby through an amazing adventure to find her magic wand.

Haunt Nights: Northeast Florida’s Newest Haunted Attraction at the Adventure Landing Jax Beach

Adventure Landing has announced that they will be hosting a multi-day haunted event called HAUNT NIGHTS.  Haunt Nights is Northeast Florida’s newest haunted attraction and will debut at the Adventure Landing’s Jacksonville Beach location on Friday, October 9th.  Haunt Nights will continue on select dates through October 31.  A complete operating schedule is available by clicking this link:  http://www.hauntnights.com/schedule.html.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month Youth Art Contest

Hubbard House announced September 20th the launch of its first-ever Domestic Violence Awareness Month Youth Art Contest in an effort to raise awareness about domestic violence among youth.

The contest, open to youth ages 5-12 living in Northeast Florida, runs from Sept. 20 through Oct. 21 and highlights Hubbard House’s newest prevention program WAVE (Working Against Violence Every day, Everywhere, Every time). The program teaches youth healthy relationship skills before abuse occurs, how to identify and prevent bullying and helps them gain a better understanding of how violence affects their lives.

Duval County Public Schools Requests Feedback on Draft Strategic Plan 2.0

Duval County Public Schools is looking for the feedback of students, teachers, employees and community members on its newly released Draft Strategic Plan.

Duval County is continuing our focus on the success of all students, and to support our efforts we have created an updated strategic plan that we are calling Strategic Plan Version 2.0.  This updated plan builds upon the successes of our original plan as well as increases our emphasis on areas for improvement.  The updated plan is an evolution of the original plan and leverages a lot of the good work which has already started.

MAU Job Fair for Welders with Mechanical Skills on September 30th

A special job fair will be held on Thursday, September 30th for individuals with mechanical and welding experience for MAU job openings at the Jacksonville TTX location. The welding positions will be performing railcar maintenance and repair duties for MAU at TTX.  MAU is a human resources firm headquartered in Augusta, GA that provides custom workforce solutions.
