14th annual JCA Jewish Book Festival

For 14 years, the JCA has celebrated Jewish books and authors at its annual Jewish Book Festival. Our goal is to educate the community about Jewish literature and to stimulate discussion and thought regarding current Jewish issues, history, philosophy and literature while providing access to purchase Jewish books.

Suns 2011 Ticket Campaign has Kicked Off!

Suns Fans! The Jacksonville Suns have officially kicked off the 2011 campaign for season tickets. The Suns are champions again and are welcoming any new season ticket holders to join us in the celebration. October 23 through October 29

I-10/I-95 interchange reconstruction project

Lanes and ramps will be closed nightly at various locations within the project limits from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Monday, October 25 through Friday, October 29.  Detour signs will be posted. The anticipated completion time for all work on this project is late 2010.

Communities in Schools of Jacksonville Helps Students Stomp Out Drugs

Over 400 students from St. Clair Evans Academy (SCEA) along with the SCEA Team Up Court and cheerleaders, Raines High School’s Marching Band, Northwestern Middle School’s Marching Band and members of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office  will be marching in the Stomp Out Drugs Parade, part of a national event that promotes a drug-free society.

Know the Difference Between a Cold and The Flu

Cold and flu symptoms are very similar and it may be hard to tell which virus is making you sick. The cold and flu are both respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different types of viruses. Flu symptoms usually come on quickly (within 3-6 hours) and consist of a fever, body aches, dry cough, and extreme tiredness. Cold symptoms are less severe and people experience a stuffy nose, productive cough, slight tiredness, and limited body aches.
