On average, Americans consume 350 slices of pizza every second. That number is about in increase exponentially in Jacksonville with the opening of Libretto’s Pizzeria and Italian Kitchen.

McRib is Back!

Beginning today, the legendary McRib sandwich will be available at participating Northeast Florida McDonald’s restaurants until November 22. The McRib, a boneless pork patty dressed with fresh-slivered onions, dill pickle slices, tangy barbeque sauce and served on a toasted, golden-brown home-style bun, is known among customers for surfacing on select local menus for limited periods of time. 

674 Children in Need of Holiday Gifts

Episcopal Children’s Services is launching its annual Holiday Outreach program this week. With the help of the community, the program will provide 674 children and families in Clay, Baker, Bradford, Union, Nassau and Duval counties with Holiday gifts.

Jacksonville Port Authority Announces First of Four Panel Sessions

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) announced today the first of four panel sessions for the JAXPORT 2011 Logistics & Intermodal Conference, a panel entitled “The Future of Intermodal Transportation.” Three industry veterans will serve as panelists: Bill Clement, assistant vice president of sales and marketing for CSX Corporation; Jeff Heller, AVP intermodal international for Norfolk Southern Corporation.; and Hans Stig Moller, president of Bridge Terminal Transport. The panel will be moderated by Tony Chiarello, president of American Shipping Group.

Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens 2nd Anniversary

In celebration of its 2nd Anniversary, the Jacksonville Arboretum & Gardens will proudly open to the public its newest trail, the Rosemary Ridge Trail, on Sunday, November 21st, 8:00AM – 5:00PM.

At 1 mile in length, the Rosemary Ridge Trail is the longest of the Arboretum’s six trails and runs through habitat unlike any other in the park.  Named for the native rosemary that grows there, the trail traverses a Xeric Hammock that offers expansive salt-marsh views and a Sandhill community of lofty pines and seasonal pond.  A side trail allows visitors to see the environmentally sensitive area where the native rosemary and deer moss grow.

Raines High School Student Reading Leadership Book Drive, Nov. 6th

The Raines High School Student Reading Leadership team (R and R Reads) will host a community-based book drive before and during the football game against Ribault High School. The “R and R Reads” group asks everyone attending to donate a book to the schools, and those who do will be entered to win raffle prizes. Books should be high school reading level and can be dropped off at the school’s front entrance.

The books will be evenly divided between the schools, and distributed to students the following week to promote reading at both Raines and Ribault high schools.

When:  Saturday, November 6, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Game begins at 2 p.m.

The Willie Gary Classic Presents the 8th Annual Willie Gary Classic College Fair at the Jacksonville Public Library –
